\nFreedom & Truth<\/em>\u00a0was commissioned by the City of Beacon, New York and BeaconArts for the dedication ceremony to install the\u00a0Margaret Fuller Marker\u00a0at the Beacon Visitor\u2019s\u00a0Center. This marker commemorates the historic visit of women\u2019s rights activist Margaret Fuller to then Fishkill Landing in Fall 1844. Fuller resided here for seven weeks while\u00a0writing America\u2019s first Feminist work,\u00a0Woman in the Nineteenth Century.\u00a0The book publication profoundly impacted the women\u2019s rights movement, inspiring the 1848 Women\u2019s\u00a0Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
