The Archive of Women in Music depends on donations and volunteers. Many active musicians who have found material for their musical productions in the Archive want to give something back\u2013such productions are often only possible thanks to the musical gems that are now only to be found in the Archive of Women in Music. The Benefit concert \u201cGuitar Ladies\u201d organized by, and starring, one of our managing board members, Heike Matthiesen, was a huge success: The hall was packed despite the beautiful weather so, once again, we added more chairs to accommodate the large number of people. The HR and the Archive of Women and Music had organized this concert as part of the Musikland Hessen<\/i> initiative.<\/p>\n
Heike Matthiesen was in glorious form, performing a firework display of little-known guitar music by female composers. The audience was from Frankfurt, as well as surrounding areas. Some had never heard of our archives before and were delighted to be offered a tour through the archival space to explore some of our treasures.<\/p>\n
Following works were performed:<\/p>\n
